Terry is from Magnetawan First Nation and has been working with the Species at risk Program on and off for the past 10 years. Terry’s long-term knowledge of the land and skills he has developed working for the SAR Program are put to good use with the different verity of field work that goes on.

Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg
Jonathen Cote, a member of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg (KZA), is the coordinator for the KZA Nagadjitodjig Aki Land Guardian program. Jonathan participates in multiple advisory committees committed to conservation and climate change, notably a member of the AFNQLSDI Climate Change advisory committee and spokesperson for Kidjimaninan, a KZA led biodiversity conservation project. With his 20 years of experience in the forestry industry as a technician, Jonathan hopes to apply his expertise to the conservation and protection of biodiversity.

Sagamok Anishnawbek
Chevaun Toulouse is an Anishinabekwe from Sagamok Anishnawbek with a deep connection to the natural world, nurtured by her childhood spent exploring the local environment. Her academic journey, from Sault College to Trent University, has equipped her with a strong foundation in environmental science, complemented by Indigenous knowledge systems. Currently, Chevaun serves as the Environment & Climate Change Coordinator for Sagamok Anishnawbek, actively promoting environmental conservation, integrating Anishinaabemowin language, and advocating for Indigenous perspectives in environmental initiatives.
Jacob Evans
Temagami First Nation
Jacob Evans (Bah Mah Migizi) Circling Eagle, a member of Temagami First Nation, is the Lands and Resources Guardian Lead. Since joining the department in 2022, he has gained a profound understanding of the land and water, while also deepening his connection to his identity and purpose as a Temaguma Anishinaabe. Recognizing Temagami as the "height of land" where sacred waters originate, he emphasizes the importance of water quality monitoring in assessing the overall ecological health of the region. As a proud father, Jacob reflects on the significance of the land in his own life and the responsibility to ensure its continued health for future generations. He firmly believes that Guardian programs are crucial for the well-being of all First Nations homelands
