Rooted in Community, Guided by Purpose

Erica’s journey has been marked by resilience and growth. After spending over a decade in customer service roles, mainly in call centers, she pursued further education at Progressive Training College. She graduated with honours in Accounting and Office Administration in 2020, right at the onset of the pandemic. This challenging time strengthened her adaptability and dedication.

Originally from Guelph, Ontario, Erica moved north as a teenager and now calls the Sault Ste. Marie area home. She finds deep meaning in working with Wahkohtowin, as it connects her to Indigenous culture and ancestral knowledge, which she sees as essential in today’s fast-paced world.

“When I first read Wahkohtowin’s mission and values, I felt an immediate connection. I want to be part of something that protects the land and uplifts communities, and I knew I had something to offer,” she shared.

Since joining Wahkohtowin, Erica has deepened her learning by beginning an online Indigenous studies course. She describes it as a powerful experience that is shaping her perspective and supporting her personal and professional growth.

Outside of work, Erica is passionate about cooking and baking. She and her boyfriend love exploring the local food scene and are always on the lookout for their next favourite meal.

We are excited to have Erica on board as we continue to advance Indigenous self-determination, stewardship, and sovereignty together.
